Wall of Sound
Wall of Sound is one work within a five-part series inspired by the turn-of-the-century World’s Fair, a time when technology was new, impressive, and allowed to look that way. Constructed entirely from vintage and antique radios collected over many years, the piece reflects the electronic and aesthetic optimism of early modern invention.
From the speakers emerge winding sheets of music, recycled from an 1880s songbook and behaving as though this is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. The installation is also interactive, playing music through a Bluetooth connection discreetly hidden inside one of the radio bodies—proof that progress continues quietly.
As a whole, the work celebrates human ingenuity in designing beautiful objects, while also acknowledging our capacity to reuse them thoughtfully. It functions as sculpture, sound source, and a modest argument for environmental responsibility.
