A Sculpture in a Secret Room

This commission was an enjoyable one, though it required a certain acceptance of unconventional entry points. There are two ways to access the piece. One is through a concealed bookcase, complete with the expected book-pull to enter. The other is via a small doorway behind a shelf in the staff kitchen, which leads through a fireplace on the other side.

The resulting space functions as a private meeting room and hideaway for writers, offering a setting that leans unapologetically into secrecy. The atmosphere is quiet, enclosed, and intentionally removed from the rest of the studio.

The sculpture was created specifically for this room, and it was a privilege to contribute to such a thoughtfully hidden space within a historic Hollywood studio—one that takes its mysteries seriously.
